Bringing peace and providing a safe environment is the greatest joy of pet adoption. It gives a feeling of satisfaction and uttermost love that no one wants to miss out on. However, every pet is different from others in anatomy and psychology. So it is possible that your pet may seem reserved in the early days of his arrival which may dis-heart your advancements.

It is normal for them to behave in this manner. All you need to do is not to worry and follow the following simple ways. This will lead you to the end result of cuddling, licking and playing from your new furry friend.

1. Give them space

Yes! In order to provide the best home place for your pets, you have to give them some time. It may seem odd, but hey! You are trying to make a bond with your cat and what if your cat needs some time to adjust to the comfy environment. This may be the first time she ever encountered a safe and quiet place. So what you need to do is to introduce your cat or dog to his new bed and let them do the rest for a day or two on their own.

2. Toilet train

Start training them right away. You don’t need to wait for them to settle in or get comfortable. They might get comfortable in pooping your new plant. It is something you don’t want right. This early training will also help setting boundaries for the future.

3. Don’t use abusive language with them

Abusing is not a healthy practice, neither in the case of humans nor pets. Using abusive or foul language to scare your pets away will only make the bonding worse. If you punish them for something which they did wrong, it will not be fruitful in the long run. You are bringing a huge responsibility. Make sure you and your home are ready for it.

4. Introduce them properly with the family members

If you want your pet not to be surprised seeing your family members you have to introduce them properly. Otherwise they will consider them strangers and might get scared. Along with family members you have to introduce them to your other pets in a proper way. You may throw a mini get together so your pet could recognize your close friends who visit you often.

5. Feed them well

Your new pet might have a history of not being in the best family. They may have been kept starved as a punishment or mare negligence. It is something that you must avoid. Feed your pets with all the necessary nutrients and calories they require. If they have a medical condition you must indulge your pet in proper medication and set the diet accordingly.

In this time of misery when we are forced to maintain our distances and travel. Pet ownership has increased and nearly 12 percent of dog owners adopted from shelters. Bringing a pet home is a huge responsibility. Especially if your pet is adopted from a shelter. So you need to be careful with these cute fur-balls in order to enjoy all the fun that you desire with your furry friend.
